Mountain Marvel

What was once a 1940’s-era summer cottage is now a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath retreat for our clients that holds a fascinating piece of High Country history - the original fireplace. Crafted from rare Grandfather Mountain Quarry stone, which has been unavailable for 50 years, our clients were adamant that the fireplace be preserved during construction. This hidden gem is truly the heartbeat of this home.

This 1-acre property, featuring stunning Blue Ridge mountain views, provides the perfect backdrop for the large picture windows throughout the home. Whether you are relaxing in the spacious primary bedroom, entertaining in the living room, or cooking in the kitchen, our clients can enjoy the beauty of the mountains that all four seasons bring. The heated and covered deck, accessed from the 10’ sliding doors in the living room, provides even more space to entertain, enjoy the view, or relax throughout the year.

When designing the home, our clients wanted to blend a refined craftsman style with modern accents. The exterior features stone, lap, and shake siding, with timber accents, which blends seamlessly with the interior craftsmanship. Additionally, original stone work around landscaping was reused wherever possible for walkways and columns to maintain the properties history. Another treasured feature of this home are the live-edge slabs topping the built-in bookshelves, which came from a family oak tree. Our interior designer was able to select fixtures and finishes that give a subtle modern touch, but compliment that craftsman style.

Our clients were able to accent their home to include their eclectic style and hobbies. With a  high-definition movie room including surround sound, their love for art and music, and a car lift in their vaulted garage, we were able to combine a modern aesthetic with functional appeal.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

"4 Forty Four personifies partnership.  This highly integrated team prioritized communication and attention to detail.  When things changed we knew what and why and well in advance. Commitment to the budget we had was as important to them as it was to us. The tradespeople they used were professional with excellent skills. They even gave us some great ideas that we incorporated into the house.  The result is a home we will be proud of for the rest of our lives!"
